Hawaii Koa Naturals

About the artist

Scott and his wife, Tandy live on six acres in an ohia forest on the Big Island of Hawai’i. Both avid plant lovers, they have collected an incredible variety of tropical plants, and spend most weekends taking care of them all. One can see gingers, heliconias, orchids, bromeliads, gardenias, anthuriums, and hibiscus, all planted among their Hawaiian “ti” farm (Big Island Cordylines) featuring at least 5,000 “ti” plants. Using the black lava rock (which is abundant on the Big Island), Scott has made beautiful rock planters throughout the property. Between the plantings, they have removed the dirt, exposing some of the many different textures that lava gets when cooling.
